Sarawak to acquire phone application for foreign worker permits

Sarawak will going to get a phone application for a general data provider to get rid of  bureaucracy, and also to make it easy and accelerate while the application for foreign worker permits, mentioned Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He mentioned the mobile application will be specifically in needs for sectors in the plantation, construction and manufacturing.

" At the moment the method of application for work permits for foreign workers is compulsot to undergo the bureaucracy due to the reason to get it, we have to deal with the Labour Department, Immigration Department and lastly the State Secretary's Office.

"The reason why it took some timing to get a work permit," it was mentioned when attending at the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers' Association (Sheda) Annual Dinner and Excellence Awards 2022 previous night. 

He mentioned the phone application will be a general site for data enhancing work permit way to process.

Chief Minister mentioned a group led by Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department( Project Monitoring, Labour and Immigration) Datuk Gerawat Gala would see into the methodology and the way of getting work permits.

"Together with this latest way, we reflect the time to get a work permits will be accelerated, therefore getting Sheda into the group to collaborate in the ways of getting work permits including the plantation, construction and manufacturing," he mentioned.

He also mentioned that the state government has stated to getting of 5 years work permit for professional foreigner worker who work in Sarawak, particularly those have a job in certain economic fields, such as digital industry and energy.

Of those attending during the event were Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Sheda Excellence Awards organising chairman Dato Alex Ting and Sheda president Augustine Wong.
